Chris and his wife, Nancy, are originally from the New England area where they were married in 1991. In 2001, he and his family were attending Heritage Baptist Church in Wallingford, Connecticut when he was called to preach under Pastor Thomas Bish. In 2002 they moved to Illinois to attend Providence Baptist College, a ministry of Northwest Bible Baptist Church. After graduating with a Pastoral Theology degree, they remained active in various ministries at Northwest.
In 2008, they moved to Lemont, Illinois to Emmanuel Baptist Church where he worked as the Assistant/ Youth Pastor.
In July of 2009, God called Chris and his family to southern Illinois for the purpose of starting a church. While putting the start-up plans together, they attended Lafayette Bible Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Ed Bragg.
On October 18, 2009 VBBC had their opening service.
